Women Without Woes Makoko

Women Without Woes Makoko

The Charity Walk to the Makoko community was a memorable experience for all because of the emotions the walk evoked in the eyes of the women. We had over 10 volunteers go with us. Over 60 women whose occupation ranged from rearing fish and selling them to hairdressing and other crafts came to listen to our message of hope.

It was an exciting moment for the community. The visioner, Lilian addressed the group on staying established in their businesses and in the community. Championing Advocate, Oluwaponmile advised the women on how to siatay their businesses through community advocacy and also how to sustain their mental health.

It was a day to celebrate, because the trip down the Makoko trail inspired the villagers to come together and refresh their minds. Many of the women were grateful for the talk and the gifts we had to give.

Their Baale, the head of the community attended the talk as well. He listened to all we had to say and also prayed for us. According to him, we had given the women of his community new hope and a new will to live.

We visited the community school before leaving and we were in awe at how dilapidated the school was. Nonetheless the students were excited to have us. They dancer excitedly and beautifully. We have decided to make rebuilding the school a project later in the future. The children and the community as a whole deserve better.
